Back To The Green Hell: NLS WATCH LIVE

After a two-month break, the Nurburgring Endurance Series return with a 4 Hour race on the famous circuit.

After two races, nine drivers share the lead with 30 points each. Felix Schumann, Michael Paatz and Timo Hochwind from the Mathilda Racing Team in their Volkswagen Scirocco R from the VT2-FWD class. Oska Sandberg, Daniel Zils and Sindre Setsaas (Adrenaline Motorsport Team Alzner Automotive) in the BMW 330i from the VT2-R+4WD. And last but not least Mauro Calamia, Ivan Jacoma and Kai Riemer from the Cup3 with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS.
At the front of the field in the SP9 Class GT3 Cars dominate.
An interesting pairing starts for the Scherer Sport Team Phoenix in the Audi R8 LMS GT3. Three-time DTM champion René Rast, who celebrated his 25th DTM victory at Imola (ITA) last weekend, drives with the Pole Jakub “Kuba” Giermaziak. “I really enjoy driving on the Nordschleife,” said Rast. “It’s a lot of fun driving the R8 there. It’s been a long time since I’ve competed in an NLS race and I’ve never won one. So it’s about time.”

Schnitzelalm Racing brings a touch of romance to the NLS: Carrie Schreiner forms a fast couple with her boyfriend Peter Terting for the first time as part of the NLS in the Mercedes AMG GT3. “I am full of anticipation for the coming weekend. We’ve worked hard to put together a good package. I am convinced that I can learn a lot from Peter. He has already proven on all kinds of cars that he can be very fast. I will definitely enjoy every second, on the best race track in the world, in a GT3 car and then with my boyfriend. That’s something very special for me,” says Carrie.

Janine Shoffner is making a comeback in the Pro-Am class. She is back for Team GetSpeed with Moritz Kranz in the Mercedes-AMG GT3. Last year, the American was the first driver to take up the challenge in a GT3 vehicle on the Nordschleife to go solo. Previously, in 2021 in the NLS, she won the Am class rating of the SP9 with a wreath six times in a row and thus also the associated class winner trophy. She also ended the season as the winner of the NLS Ladies Trophy.

No sooner had they said goodbye than they were back on the mat. We’re talking about the drivers of the BMW Junior Team. Daniel Harper, Max Hesse and Neil Verhagen are in the SP8T with the recently presented BMW M4 GT4 Concept. In the VLN class TCR, Scherer Sport is also causing a sensation with the entry of the new Audi RS3 LMS. In addition to the former VLN junior Christoph Breuer, the vehicle will be driven by the “golden candlestick” Benjamin Leuchter and Andreas Gülden. The vehicle is being looked after by the new Scherer Team Projekt, which is made up of employees from various companies in the Scherer Group.

Racing is live from the Nurburgring Saturday night Australian time with English commentary from the Radio Show Limited team from Radio Le Mans.
